Hybrid businesses

Online and at the counter. One place to review the work.

Manage programs for businesses that sell in more than one channel, without pretending the checkout journeys are identical.

Start with the people

Who could you invite?

Invite customers and trusted contacts who understand either or both channels. Give partners the right sharing link and explain channel-specific offer terms.

Offer ideas to adapt

  • An online product campaign alongside a location-based offer.
  • A local customer pass for counter purchases plus configured web checkout tracking.
  • Different eligible products and benefits, with clearly stated reward rules.

Illustrative ideas. Choose your own economics and terms.

Make the numbers explicit

Illustrative: an online eligible $100 sale at 5% earns $5; a separately verified local $20 purchase at 5% earns $1. These are distinct records, not automatically merged customer identities.

A realistic workflow for hybrid businesses

  1. 1

Select Both during program setup and review both channel paths.

  2. 2

Configure online paid-sale/refund reporting and local locations/staff separately.

  3. 3

Give partners appropriate online program links and personalized local offer links.

  4. 4

Online events or verified local claims create their own paid records.

  5. 5

Review commissions and external payouts in the workspace.

The operational details matter

Two operating checklists

Online tracking needs correct provider/server configuration. Local checkout needs staff training, a live pass check, manual benefit application and finance review. Completing one path does not verify the other or connect a register.

Keep channel promises specific

A counter offer may have location and hour limits that do not apply online. A store discount code is not the same thing as a customer pass. Explain where each benefit is valid so staff and partners do not overpromise.

No automatic identity matching

The workspace holds both channels, but it does not promise that a walk-in customer and an online customer are automatically recognized as the same person. Reconcile references carefully and avoid double-counting purchases across sources.

Questions for your business

Does Both connect our POS?

No. It preserves both setup paths; counter benefits remain manually applied.

Are customers merged across channels?

No automatic cross-channel customer identity matching is claimed.
