Practical guidance · illustrative examples · not legal or financial advice
Define qualifying purchase
Name eligible paid items/services, exclusions and minimum spend. A scan, lead or booking is not payment. Staff must understand what to check.
Choose a sustainable reward
Consider product/service cost, visit frequency and staffing. A coffee, retail basket and quarterly appointment have different economics. Do not promise every suggested template is affordable.
Explain location and timing
State participating locations, schedule, daily limits and expiry supported by your program. Shared Summit scope belongs to one business, not a universal rewards network.
Keep benefit types separate
Customer discount, buyer loyalty, referrer noncash reward and affiliate commission are distinct. Configure supported combinations, and do not assume separate checkout paths are one atomic action.
Plan for refunds and corrections
Explain how returned purchases affect progress and reward availability. Use authorized reasoned corrections and preserve the record history. Do not retroactively erase legitimate earned obligations just because a subscription ended.
Publish merchant-specific terms
Use the actual reward description and settings customers see. The platform Customer Rewards Rules are general guidance; they do not invent your merchant offer, override mandatory rights or replace legal review.
Review the real offer before sharing
Check that a customer can understand the actual reward, qualifying purchase, participating location and expiry from the material. A published example is not proof that the business has configured it. Keep public enrollment links separate from private customer codes, avoid unnecessary personal information and ask the merchant when a benefit is unclear.
